Divorcing but now soon-to-be ex says it’s better if we just separate or file an “agreement” while our kids are small. I’m considering it because my salary is super low and we have (somehow) started to get along. To “make amends” he has offered to help with many things, health insurance being one. (I have a pre-existing condition.)
He said that even though I would have full custody, the kids can still stay on his private health insurance if we do this.
But I’m pretty sure that I can’t stay on his company’s insurance if we separate/divorce. In the states, yes as long as you pay the premiums you can usually keep an ex-spouse on your insurance but is that possible here?
I also wonder if he wants to do this to avoid anyone at his job from finding out we are divorced…honestly, I was just going to divorce, but I’m not against separation if there is an agreement but it seems when I asked my lawyer she thought it was super weird and rare.
