  1. Encourage Fujitsu, Sony, Hitachi, NEC et al to make one of their own…expensive & overly complex, isn’t it?

  2. There are some issues I would like to see the Japanese government weigh in on, though not about increasing the number of app stores. Some similar issues related to mega IT companies like Apple, Google and Amazon.

    1. Make all Japanese apps available in U.S. app store
    2. Make purchases (Kindle library) in Amazon Japan visible to Kindle registered to Amazon U.S., and also make gift cards transferable between them

Meanwhile I have two au/KDDI apps on my iPhone that work great (the au one to see your bill and the datacharge monster one) and is far higher quality than what I have seen in au/KDDI app stores when I had android. It does require you to jump to their website sometimes which is jarring.

I feel way safer security and privacy wise using Apple’s store than if I was directed to different stores operated by a carrier or unknown entity like a media distributor. If it was possible to reduce charges on media like books, music or videos bought through app store, and maybe also de-emphasize Apple purchases when trying to use your music library it would be better for the consumer. It is very convoluted trying to actually access your own music or add music without constantly being redirected to Apple Music. I’d say there is too much advertising on the iPhone right now.
