I don’t know anything about running, but I’m trying to find a brick and mortar shop I can take a friend to to buy some professional running supplies.
Examples: Competition running clothes and spiked running shoes for track events, specifically 800m and 1500m races.
My friend is a refugee at a refugee center in Kamakura. They were a professional runner in their home country and are trying to keep up their training.
As a refugee, they can’t earn money in Japan, and I’d like to take them somewhere to get the supplies they need to train and compete. Since I don’t know a thing about professional running gear, I’m hoping there’s some chain or specific store in Kamakura I can take them to to pick out the right items in their size.
They are trying to apply and compete in an event at Shin-Yokohama on May 5th, so I hope to arrange things soon.
My Japanese isn’t bad, but I just couldn’t be sure that anything I could look up wouldn’t just be general athletic gear and not necessarily have professional level stuff. Furthermore, I don’t know what these things are called in English, nonetheless in Japanese. I’m trying to keep my head above water at work so I don’t have a huge amount of time to researching the place. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
I’m asking friends in my circle and people in my community I know in person to help chip in for the finances, but I’m just looking for information on where to go here and not trying to elicit money from any strangers on the Internet or anything.
