Hi everybody! My daughter and I will be traveling to Japan for 13 days around late October / early November. Just wanted to get some feedback on our itinerary!
I also wanted to know if there are some fun cultural activities we could do during our time in Japan, like cooking or some handicraft classes. Additionally, what are the best day trips from Tokyo, perhaps places known for their nature, or some small traditional towns?
I was interested in going to Tsumago-juku or Narai-juku on our way to Kyoto from Tokyo, but is it quite a hassle to reach there?
Itinerary:
**Day 1 – October 22: Arrival at Haneda**
• Arrive at Haneda at around 8:30 AM
• Check in to hotel
• Roam around the hotel
**Day 2 – October 23: Ueno and Asakusa**
• Go to senso-ji early in the morning
• Explore Asakusa
• Go to Ueno, explore the area
**Day 3 – October 24: Daytrip**
**Day 4 – October 25: Harajuku and Shibuya**
• Head towards Mejji Jingu shrine, Yoyogi park
• Go to Harajuku, Takeshita Street
• Head towards Shibuya scramble crossing, explore
• Go to Ginza for shopping
**Day 5 – October 26: Tokyo station area and Akihabara**
• Go to Tokyo station
• Visit the Imperial East garden
• Explore Marunouchi, do some shopping
**Day 6 – October 27: Tokyo -> Kyoto**
• Check into hotel
• Explore Nishiki market
• Walk around Miyagawa-cho
**Day 7 – October 28: Explore Kyoto**
• Go to Kiyomizu Dera early in the morning
• Head towards Sannenzaka & Ninenzaka
• Go to Yasaka shrine
• Go to Higashiyama JIsho-ji
• Walk around Tetsugaku No Michi
• Go to Keage incline
**Day 8 – October 29: Nara day trip**
• Go to Nara park
• Go to Todai-ji temple
• Explore Nara
• Come back to Kyoto
• Go to Kyoto Imperial Palace, explore that area
**Day 9 – October 30: Fushimi Inari and Uji**
• Head out to Fushimi Inari early in the morning
• Go to Uji
• Explore Ujibashi bridge and Uji park
• Go to Byodo in temple
**Day 10 – October 31: Explore Kyoto**
• Just roam around Kyoto
• Maybe go to Kyoto station at night, go to all the places we couldn’t go to
**Day 11 – November 1: Kyoto – Osaka**
• Check into hotel
• Go to Namba Yasaka Shrine
• Go to Shinsaibashi-suji shopping street
• Explore Dotonbori
• Maybe go to America Mura if time permits
**Day 12 – November 2: Day trip to Koyasan**
**Day 13 – November 3:**
• Open day, flights at night 11.30 PM
• Maybe go to Osaka Castle, or the Cup noodle museum
• Depart from KIX
