Switching from split payment to revolving payment

Hello everyone. I did a light search in the group and didn’t see this question asked. I hit the back half of my 20s and realized I’ve been stupid with my money and I’m working to fix the problem.

**The problem:**

I put a very large payment on a 3-year 分割払い some time ago on my rakuten card. I’m slowly getting my financial situation together so I’ll hopefully never have to do that again.

I want to start chipping away at the balance with the money I have left over at the end of the month. I know with Rakuten you can’t change the amount of split payments. And, if I read the FAQ correctly, you can make an extra payment but it requires a bank transfer separate from the automatic monthly payment. I’ll have to pay extra bank fees.

**Possible solution**:

If I switch to ribo I can use the matome payment to do partial payments every month that are rolled into the automatic payment. I’ve also heard I can pay extra payments via ATM.

If I want to save on fees and chip away at it faster, it seems to make the most sense to switch to ribo and make the extra payments at seemingly no cost.

Interest rates also look similar at 15% each.

Am I missing something here? Or is what I’m thinking the most logical approach? (Yes I know there is a risk of me not making the minimum payment I did on 分割払い. But I already paid off the one other large payment and feel fairly confident tackling this)

Thank you in advance
