  1. Absolutely stoked for this. Easily my favorite film of the year. I’ve never witnessed a screenplay where every single word was meaningful and had an impact. Genius screenplay.

  2. Sad that it’s only the second Japanese film to do so. Lots of great Japanese films snubbed through the years.

  3. Honestly surprised. It was an okay film. Every characters problem was so overblown. Everyone in that film just needed a few therapy sessions or to just talk it out with someone.

  4. Movie seemed a bit slow and confusing while watching. After watching the more I thought about it and saw the hidden meaning and clues it became really good.

  5. I’m really really happy about this. This was my most favorite movie of 2021. Also liked his another work very much – wheel of fortune and fantasy.

  6. I saw some in Twitter feed that Japanese film industry should be recognized as a whole.

Because in recent years, most movies are in downspiral in terms of budgets, writings and other amenities within the industries. So I was pretty surprising that this could be regaining interest within film industry and somehow “Drive My Car” needed for some respect in the Whole Asian Film industry.

  7. Departures and Shoplifters were so much better than this. Just seemed overly drawn out with people trying to get in touch with their feelings

  8. I’m glad it won an Oscar but I’m disappointed Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash, Belle, My Hero Academia The Movie: World Heroes’ Mission, or Jujutsu Kaisen 0 got a nomination for animated feature.
