Hello.
I am currently in Japan, but my current visa expires soon. I am applying for the J Find visa and meet all the prerequisites.
Everyone at the Immigration services in Shinagawa seem confused. I was told that:
1) I cannot apply for a residency change (2 months ago)
2) I needed a C of E (obtained 2 weeks ago)
What happens next is very unclear?
I was told, on 2 occasions and after hours of queuing:
1) I needed to apply at the Japanese Embassy in the UK (I’m British)
2) I can apply at the closest embassy outside of Japan (E.g. Korea)
In both cases, they were adamant I needed to leave the country and re-enter
Can I not apply for the J-Find visa within Japan?
