Sounds like the best reason to cancel the flight.
Why is there a picture of a JAL aircraft? Its not the same company.
That’s a pretty good reason to cancel, means they’re making sure pilots are actually fit to fly before takeoff. He wasn’t so they canceled the flight rather than risk it.
Pretty good reason to cancel it IMHO
What?! There’s a penguin flying this plane. And he’s been drinking! Wait a sec. Penguins can’t fly! PENGUINS CAN’T FLY!!
How about a real newspaper? https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2024/04/28/japan/jal-captain-drunk/
Air Japan and Japan Airlines are two completely different airlines.
at least they were honest about it
One more for the road, Scotty. I’m wheels up in ten.

I know if I were on the flight I’d be pissed, but I gotta laugh. Dude got bombed in his hotel. Can’t say I haven’t been there. Granted, I never had to fly the plane the next morning.
JAL pilots have a bit of a history with this. One was jailed in the UK a few years ago for failing a pre-flight alcohol test.
tf is “Air Japan”
Its such a long flight he would’ve sobered up by landing.
He was looking at the exchange rate and figured the booze won’t get cheaper from here on in.
Now if this were a gaijin…
In case anyone didn’t read, he stopped drinking more than 12 hours before checkin time, but because of the police complaint, they were worried he was exceptionally drunk and didn’t have enough time to properly screen or replace him it sounds like.
Why do we have a picture of a JAL plane of its Air Japan…?
Where’s the line though? Is there a “just drunk enough to fly”?
It’s not the first time. Japanese pilots seem to always be drunk. Several incident reporter in the last years.
They didn’t have a designated pilot?
