How to contact the Japan lump sum pension office

Hi folks,

Apologies in advance if this is not the right forum since I no longer live in Japan.

That said, I worked in Japan for two years from January 2020 to May 2022, then left the country and relocated to the United States. Two months later, I initiated the pension refund process, using an agent, taxback.com.

I sent them all the necessary documents by August 2022, and they informed me in January 2023 that they had not only filed for the lump sum payment but also tax refund for the two years.

Fast forward to May 2024, and I’ve not received the payment. I have emailed the agent several times but they don’t seem to have any idea why it’s taken this long. They do insist that their hands are tied since the Japanese authorities do not allow third parties to enquire about the pension application status.

My question is, is there a way to contact the pension office from abroad and enquire as to the status of the application?
