Hey there!
I’ll be in Japan from May 18th to June 3th. I’ve already booked a hostel for the first 4 nights in Tokyo (and will stay in the city the last one or two nights as well, as a friend studies there), and will probably head to Kyoto for a few days afterwards. I’m also visiting Singapore for five days on my way from Europe to Japan, so that’s a lot of time spent inside cities. That’s why I would love to explore a bit of Japans nature in the days I have left! I’m currently sitting infront of my computer looking at all the national parks and they all look stunning. I kinda want to go to all of them but that’s obviously not possible lol. That’s why I would love your recommendations where to head to!
I’m ideally looking for a place from where I can do multiple day hikes, leaving my luggage at my accomodation (alternatively, a 2-3 day hike with the option of forwarding luggage to the next major town would be fine too). I also don’t plan to rent a car, so I will have to rely on public transport.
I’m physically fit and generally know my way around mountains (grew up near the Alps and toured Scotland with my tent last year), so I’m not afraid of some rocky or steep passages. I’m not looking for super ambitious and difficult climbing routes though, I want to focus more on enjoying the scenery and feeling connected with nature.
Many thanks in advance!
