iknow.jp – audio on or off?

I’m presently going through the core 6000 vocab at iknow.jp, and after you answer something, it reads the audio of the sentence you just did. Is this a good thing or no? I am wondering if it’s too easy to passively engage with it if the sound is on. If I mute it, it forces me to actually read the whole sentence myself instead of listening to it, before I move on. Is this better? Or is it better to hear the spoken Japanese each time? The latter is much easier, the former seems to put the onus on me to recall the readings of the vocab in the sentence (I try not to look at the hiragana pronunciation of it until afterwards) I can see there being arguments for both, I’m just wondering which you would consider more effective for learning.
