I apologize if there’s already a thread for this, but most of the stuff I found online was about getting their luggage to and from Japan, and traveling to maybe one city, which isn’t really my case.
At the end of May/into June, I’ll be heading to Japan for two weeks with some friends and hopping between cities quite frequently. I think we are going to four cities, total, starting in Tokyo, taking flights and trains between, and then ending in Tokyo. Since we are going at a nice time for weather, and we are also pretty young and flexible, we are doing our absolute best to make sure we don’t overpack. We will still probably be bringing a luggage bag each, mostly for souvenirs.
Right now we are thinking that we will try to get a good amount of souvenirs in Tokyo and leave them in one or two of the large luggage bags in some sort of coin locker in Tokyo throughout the trip; or the other option is to plan to take all of our bags with us throughout the trip. Is a luggage transport service something that we have to plan ahead for every city change? Obviously, we are looking to not spend a ridiculous amount of money, but we also understand that if we go into it with a more impromptu approach that we might end up spending a little extra while we are there, which would be fine.
We only spend around 2-3 days in each city (excluding Tokyo where we start + end), and the main concern is not getting bogged down by huge luggage bags when our clothes and necessities will be in our backpacks anyway.
On a sidenote, if anyone has any information on shipping things back to the US, that would be great.
