So I had my first dating experience with a Japanese last week. We are 26M and 29M, both Asians. We met in the bar area in Shinjuku. He is clearly into me (hmm, he literally said it) and I felt the same way too. We had somewhat a date on the next day and walked around the towns in Tokyo. Everything went pretty good.
However during the date, we did not talk much on personal topics. We talked non-stop and it was very smooth, but it is mostly about objective matters such as Japanese teens, geography, culture differences. Whenever I try to turn the topic into a more personal one, he seemed to be not interested to talk about it.
It might be a cultural difference but I tend to talk quite a lot about personal preference, ideas or experience during a date. Do Japanese tend to be reserved on these topics? I hope I did not offend him by doing so.
