Is it just me or do reviewers in Japan to see a bit more critical than say in the US when it comes to reviews?
I didn’t look at things in depth, so I don’t know the exact numbers/count of local reviewers versus tourists.
However, it seems like places that had average-ish reviews, such as 3.5-4 stars were all much better than what their reviews and ratings would have otherwise suggested. I would probably say most 3.5-4 star places in Japan would have at least been a 4-4.5 star rating in the US.
Obviously this is all loosely based on personal experiences, but I just wanted to see if anyone else noticed this sort of trend while in Japan as well.
