Going to Japan with my partner in November. We wanted to get some feedback on our itinerary. It’s our first time in Japan and wanted to hit the highlights but also want to have some experiences outside of the major cities. Any feedback is appreciated including things we can’t miss at a location, where to stay, or things we must book early. We may visit Osaka for 1 day or not at all given our schedule. Basing the schedule based on where we will stay for evening; depending on the location we may explore the following morning before embarking to the next city/town .
* Nights 1-4: Tokyo (arrive in the late afternoon on night 1)
* Nights 5-7: Kanazawa
* Nights 8-11: Kyoto (we plan to do a day trip to Osaka on one of the days in Kyoto but keeping Kyoto as our base)
* Night 12: Magome / Tsumago Trail
* Night 13: Hakone (Ryokan already booked)
* Night 14-15: Tokyo again leaving on the next day 16
It feels like a missed opportunity not going to Osaka (and Naoshima) but we’d rather spend more time in fewer places than hopping from one city to the next (even though the latter half of our itinerary seems rather busy.
