In English, the average number of letters per word is 4.7 and the most represented number is 5-letter words. What are the stats for Japanese on this fact? Multiple google searches have come short, surprisingly.
In this there’s an assumption that any kanji is represented as the syllables/hiragana that make them up, which might be why compiling that info might not be straightforwards and widespread. Katakana is not involved.
I would guess the average as around 3 yet the most represented to be uncomfortably close between 2, 3, and 4 letter words.
