Hi!
Im an exchange student living in Tokyo and Im going to Okinawa for the first time on Saturday, staying until next Saturday. I do not have a drivers licence and Im traveling solo. I know the recommendations is to hire a car in Okinawa but I want to experience Okinawa even though I dont have a license. Can someone please help me with some questions:
Where should I stay? Ive been looking at staying in Nago. Im mostly interested in seeing nice beaches with crystal clear waters and snorkeling during my trip. Is Nago a good location to stay in, to be able to catch the bus to different beaches? Or should I stay in Naha?
Am I being naiv thinking I can actually take the bus to different beaches? I know the ride is long and expensive but I dont mind. As long as the buses actually runs, Im fine. I’ve seen on google maps that theres a bus from Naha to Nago, taking about 1,5 hours. Is the bus reliable and usually leaving on time?
I’m planning to spend about 4 nights in Okinawa and 3 nights in another island. Do you have any recommendations for an island which is nearby, easy to get to (doesnt matter is its by plane or boat), and where I can explore beaches without a car?
