Interested in learning and discovering Japanese music?

I began a blog that was designed to introduce new and old Japanese music for those who are interested in the language and the culture. I think one of the best ways to learn the language is to constantly expose yourself to it, and what better way than to listen to it in the form of music!

  1. Are you going to expand this to Enka (演歌) or even Gagaku 雅楽 for the old Japanese music connoisseurs?

  2. * Yoru ni Kakeru (YOASOBI)
    * This Game (Konomi Suzuki)
    * Lemon (Kenshi Yonezu)
    * Flamingo (Kenshi Yonezu)
    * Hana ni Bourei (Yorushika)
    * Deep Indigo (Yorushika)
    * Usotsuki (Yorushika)
    * Answer (Ikuta Lilas)
    * Cry Baby (Official Hige Dandism)
    * Ambiguous (Gardinelia)
    * Orange (7!!)
    * Koi (Gen Hoshino)
    * Homura (Lisa)

    Just some of my suggestions 🙂

  3. I noticed you have Scandal, they’re probably my favorite of the genre. How much have you been exposed to their music? I only noticed their top songs on your page about them, and they have so many really good songs that my favorite is apparently number 64 from the top. If you only have a few songs, may I recommend their albums Hello World and Yellow, as well as the single Taiyou Scandalous?

    Also, check out Ikimono Gakari. I saw you’re a fan of Naruto, so I *know* you’ve heard three of their songs, Hanabi, Sakura, and Blue Bird. You’d be surprised how good their discography is.

    Check out Sayonara Memories, Watashihe, and My Dearest by Supercell. You will have already heard Utakata Hanabi from them. The same person who made the songs for Supercell also made the songs for the Monogatari series, the most notable being Renai Circulation, Platinum Disco, and Kimino Shiranai Monogatari, but a LOT of them are just masterpieces worth your attention, and will be found under the album name UtaMonogatari.

    You will have likely have heard Rolling Star by Yui from Bleach, and her other music is worth considering too. Check out the album it’s from, Can’t Buy My Love.

    Lastly before I make an essay of this, Stereopony. You likely have heard of Hitohirano Hanabira from Bleach. More, More, More! is my favorite of their albums because of how strong it starts and stays throughout. Introduction and Blowin’ in the Wind are just… something special.

    EDIT: How could I have forgotten Do As Infinity? Anyone that has watched Inuyasha will know of their top song, Fukai Mori. The rest of their songs aren’t entirely like that one, but they’re great too.

  4. Hey let’s say I’m working on music with a friend with lyrics in Japanese, would it be possible to share that here once it’s all finished? I feel like you’d enjoy it!
