opinion? :D finally booked a trip to japan after lurking here for years!

hi all! i've been lurking this sub for many years and i am finally going to japan. my husband and i were meant to take our wedding honeymoon in 2020… and, well, you know what happened there. we are leaving our 3 year old behind with my parents from the 27th of august to 6 of sept. i have done very little research on train/transportation so i'm going to have to do that and educate myself a little. there are many things i want to do and i am overwhelmed. my husband wants to go to the token two areas: osaka and kyoto. we are also going to tokyo obviously. however, i told him i want to do puroland/disneyland. i only want to dedicate one day so i am trying to choose between those. i love both things just as much but i am leaning towards puroland because it's a one of a kind experience there. 🙂 disney is everywhere, of course. thoughts on this?

anyway, is there anywhere else we should consider? anyone have any recommendations on stays that will feel the most genuine? i told my husband we should sleep on tatami mats LMAO. my thoughts are all over the place but i guess…

  • TL;DR, how do i start figuring out what to narrow down what we want to do (because it's super hard)?
  • what are the "must see" things in these areas of japan, and should we be going anywhere else for first timers in japan? we will likely go back when we are older with our kids but right now i am ok with doing the tourist-y things..
  • additionally, what kind of clothing should i stick to? are jeans and a nice blouse ok? i am probably gonna stick out as a sore thumb anyway since im not japanese lmao.
  • i also heard at shrines you must cover your legs.
  • aaand for onsens, recommendations for which city has the best ones and will ignore my tattoos? lol
  • Puroland or Disneyland?

a lot to unpack here but thank you to anyone who reads through this. and please dont be mean!~
