Itinerary Check 3 Weeks, July 2024

We know it's a hot time of year but it's when we could make the trip happen. We area well travelled couple (37f and 46m) and don't mind early morning and love walking around. We are still figuring out between some places, and probably have overfilled the schedule some and will allow for more random exploring. We aren't afraid to get up extra early to see sights with less people or pack more in a day.

Would especially love advice on if we have enough time to explore Tokyo and if we have too many total cities. And thoughts on Mnt Fuji viewpoints being done as a private tour or explore on our own. Once we finalize itinerary we will book hotels and ryokens based on location more than any factor. We are very comfortable eating at Michelin star spots but we keep reading about how most the food is so amazing it's just as good, so open to food ideas or just exploring on the fly. Lastly, we intend to full in some art galleries to find a special piece to bring home if we find something we love. Wanted to maybe add a fun day hike in nature, or possibly Kobe or another city, but also trying to not overpack things and leave room for exploring, adding a day somewhere, etc.

Thanks for any help! This reddit has been really helpful. We plan a two week JR pass, and getting all the cards, etc, before we leave for Japan.
