Should I remove my nationality from my resume for English teaching jobs? (or any jobs for that matter)

Hi, this idea just hit me today after experiencing being the victim or racism online for the first time on another r/ . I am not sure if it would be polite to say where but I can say it was one about Japan.

The thing is, I am form Romania. I've always believed that far in the east the stigma against us didn't get to such deep levels and I would be treated like an European citizen instead of a thief.

I know that my employer has to find out where I am from sooner or later for the visa. But my train of thought is that if they do not find out that I am from Romanian the moment they lay their eyes on my CV I have a better chance at getting an interview, presenting myself as I am, not as my nation makes me look like, and proving that my English is not lacking in any way. This could also save me a bit from the non-native wall. Sure, it can be clearly seen that I have studied in Romania from my university but if I just omit to mention the city and country of the institution I doubt anyone would actually be interested enough to look it up.

I know that nationality should not matter and that whoever looks at it might not be the best person to work for, but I also know how deep the hatred goes in Europe, and if it is the same way in Japan too, I can't even blame some people.

My main concern is if this is something that can or should be done. Does the lack of a nationality on my resume drop my chances even more than an undesirable nationality would? Same goes for the location of the institutions where I have studied.

This goes for eikaiwas, but also private or international schools. ( I have a degree in sports so physical education and coaching are also on the table, I know those are a whole other thing, so I would probably need a visa before going there)

Also, if anyone knows the situation for jobs outside of the teaching domain (since I do need a plan B if I have to switch professions 5 years down the road), I would kindly ask them to write me a private message so we don't discuss unrelated things here.

I know this post would have been better on another r/ , and maybe I will ask there too, but I do feel safer here in the way of not risking to be rudely told to stay in my country because nobody wants "insert whatever we are considered in Japan" here. It's not that it hurts me as much as it just starts an unproductive discussion and brings people with the same mindset to my plea for help.

Thank you for your time!
