Hello! Female solo traveler here going to Japan for the first time from 06/24 to 06/30/24.
I am debating whether to stay in Tokyo the entire time or go to Hanoke for 2 of those nights. I have no set itinerary currently.
I currently am staying in Asakusa 6/24-6/28. I land at NRT around 1:30pm, will be coming from Taiwan so no Jet lag there and returning home to USA 6/30/24 (flight 2:40pm NRT).
How easy is it to commute from Tokyo to Hakone and vice versa?
Splitting the trip will give me 3 full days & 4 nights in Tokyo and 2 nights in Hakone. Is this a good idea to cram Tokyo into 3 days or is staying the entire time in Tokyo better recommended? If so, does anyone suggest staying in another area of Tokyo as well? I was thinking Shinjuku, maybe a hostel to meet other travelers.
I have no itinerary or set plans yet. The only thing I know I do want to do is see the Ghibli Museum. Keeping things loose so if anyone wants to make one or have recommendations, I am all ears!
