Hi! I'm trying to get a mext scholarship for a professional graduate course, but one thing that is making me nervous is the amount of money that the student will receive each month.
I read everything in the study in japan website and mext website and I believe it's about 140~145k per month (for what I choose).
Is it enough money to go by? If I actually get the scholarship should I save some money before I go, for emergencies or something?
(sorry for any errors, english is not my first language :))

Do you need to pay university fee if you have the MEXT ?
If yes, then it’s enough
If no … Well super hard
Depending on where u study. If u study in big city, then yea, that budget would be tight af. If you are up in ishikawa, on top of the hill in the middle of forest and a couple of farms, 140k is a lot of money when dormitory only cost like less than 15k yen/month
If you’re frugal and cook your own food you can survive in big cities.
That’s enough regardless of wherever you are unless you want to live in a rich neighborhood or have bad spending habits. At the end of the day it’s a grad school stipend. Most people don’t live luxurious lifes as a grad student but that should be enough to live comfortably and go on the occasional trip.
