Hey Everyone!
Been reading through this sub and the other travel sub planning our itinerary for a two week trip starting Aug 13(from Toronto) to August 28th.
I read about Obon festival being super busy and also maybe that a lot of stores might be closed during obon.
So I was thinking of maybe starting the trip from Osaka/Kyoto then do Tokyo/Hakone since we can maybe get to enjoy obon festivities in Kyoto and then spend a couple of nights in Osaka for a couple of nights and then head to Tokyo.
Just a couple of questions at this stage:
Is Kyoto during obon a bad idea i.e overcrowded /tough to get accomodations etc and should I maybe start the trip in Tokyo?
Should I add Kanzawa to the trip? It seems slightly cooler temperature wise and beautiful as well and nature is a higher priority compared to city things in Osaka/Tokyo.
I realize this is not the ideal time for a trip to Japan but unfortunately it's the only time we can do since my wife starts a new course in the fall semester here. So hoping to make the most of it.
