Hello, I teach at an international school in Tokyo
I recently found out my school is underpaying compare to my coworkers. I want to bring this up because that is not right.
How much does your international school pay?
Does anyone have any advice?
I was thinking of discussing it before I sign my next contract. I don’t want to throw any of my coworkers under the bus and say that they told me their salaries. But maybe I can somehow show proof of other schools’ salaries.
Edit:
Hi. I would like to give some more info.
My school is a CIS certified, and IB curriculum. It teaches from pre-K all the way to 12th grade.
I have a bachelors in education and a teaching license in my home country.
I am a homeroom teacher and teach various subjects. The other teachers, I talk to also teach very similar subjects as myself. However, they are not homeroom teachers. My school does not give any bonuses for being a homeroom teacher, unfortunately.
Age, race, marital status should not be a problem.
I have over four years of experience of teaching in international school.
I’m just gonna say my salary is 340,000 a month. I know compared to some “international schools” this is high, but my school market itself as being a CIS and IB school. So compared to schools like the American international schools, Canadian international school etc. this is quite low.
