Should I do Hiroshima and Miyajima in an organized tour? Or easy to do on my own?

Hi all,

I’ll be in Kyoto in a couple weeks for several days. I plan to go down to Hiroshima to experience it. Unfortunately many of the organized tours are either booked or don’t run on the days I’ll be there.

I found one that includes transportation, entrance fees, and a guide for $360. That feels a bit steep, but I am unsure.

Is it a crazy logistical nightmare to just plan a day trip to these two? It seems like getting to Hiroshima is rather straight forward, but I am unsure about the Miyajima part.

I plan to stay down there all day and head back as late as possible to Kyoto via the Shinkansen.
