I’m trying to purchase a car in full but not sure what is the best way to send money from a US bank and receive they money here in Japan (Okinawa). My bank said I could swipe my card after raising the purchase limit but the dealership here in Japan said they can’t do that because of fees etc. Anyone ever have a similar situation with a solution?

You need to do a bank transfer to the dealer. They give you a bank and account number (they frequently have accounts with 3-4 banks and you can pick) and you tell your bank to transfer the sum there. For a transfer from abroad you need to ask them for the IBAN number or SWIFT code (check with your US bank whet they need).
If your US bank can’t transfer directly to Japan, or the dealer can’t provide an IBAN number you probably need to transfer the money to a Japanese account first, then transfer to the dealer from there.
You should transfer money from your US bank account to your Japanese bank account first, then do a transfer from your Japanese bank account to the dealer. If I need to transfer money from my US account I use my US PayPal account to transfer money from my US bank account to my Japanese PayPal account, then from my Japanese PayPal account to my Japanese bank account. That’s much cheaper than doing a direct international bank transfer. I bought a new car a couple of months ago and I transferred money that way for the down payment.
