Hello all
I just wanted to ask for advice or whether anyone has any experience with what I'm going through.
I have been employed by a Japanese company to work as an English teacher. They have sponsored my work visa with a COE which I am picking up in the next two weeks or so. They have hired me and my paid training starts with them on the 18th August 2024 and my first day of officially teaching is the 24th.
Now, this company has not been very honest with me. I was hoping to be placed in Tokyo because I have family connections and friends there. The company assured me they will place me in or around Tokyo. However after they provided me with a COE they assigned me to a school that is nowhere near Tokyo. I have asked whether I can change schools in or around Tokyo and they said no.
I've been quite frustrated and stressed at this the past few days that I have been speaking to other schools in Tokyo and they said they will hire me as long as I have a work visa.
I wanted to ask a few questions:
Whether it is possible for me to pick up the work visa and quit before my first day with this company so I can apply to these other schools?
Is there are additional paperwork if I do this?
Can the company revoke my work visa if I quit?
Thank you all. Hope to hear from you soon!
