Been in Japan for a little under a year and my pension payments never seemed super important to me. I have the money to pay off what I owe but I don't plan on retiring in Japan or staying past another 6 months or so. But I wanted to check here and see what other people think. I know that paying into the pension service is required for residents and on my work visa I fall under that. Anyone know about the exact rules around how long you can get by without paying? I have a trip to Hokkaido planned for next month and would rather pay into the pension service after that trip. I don't owe much, just about 100,000. So I'm not stressed over it. But I have a bad habit of ignoring things I'm not super concerned with.
