Hi,
TLDR – formaldehyde presence detected in furniture after 1 year and retailer does not want to refund despite the item being under warranty.
Despite having our beds for 1 year, chemical smell inside their storage compartment hasn't gone away. I didn't smell it much, but my wife did as she has been waking up with throat and nose irritation.
Today, she got a test from Amazon (Dr. Sick-house) – white stripes that turn yellow in the presence of formaldehyde within 5 hours.Sripe placed inside the bed turned yellow (high intensity) within 2 hours.
Control was our living room (nothing – white) and my wardrobe, where I keep my hobby paints – this turned slightly yellow, but less intense.
As our beds are still under warranty (3 years), we requested a refund. Naturally, the retailer we purchased the beds from (Tokyo interior), refused saying there is no warranty and their manufacturer followed all the regulations…haha, made in China.
Anyone with similar experience? I come from the EU and I am quite shocked.
