Are there suburban areas near (call it <=1hr train ride) Tokyo where one could have a house, a bit of a garden/yard (not mere feet from neighbors) in a fairly "upscale" community with newer construction and/or the opportunity to build?
Im thinking the Japanese version of US "bedroom communities" with subdivisions.
Also, in Japanese neighborhoods with houses, is barbecuing with charcoal something that is generally frowned upon because of smoke/smell?
