Amazon not delivery but sending notice that they attempted to deliver

Recently, within one week I have this issues (as tittle) twice. I ordered from Amazon some summer gifts for friends (mostly juices) and I chose to deliver within the day or the next day as the option available from Amazon.

Since this was a gift, I also had to check with friends in advance when my friends work from home, so they could receive them without rescheduling. Some friends living outside of Tokyo received stuff as scheduled without any problems. Delivery was done by Yamato.

However, 2 friends living in Tokyo could not receive as the plan. Both cases, I got notice from Amazon app saying they tried to deliver but failed. This two friends both worked from home on the planned delivery day. I have their phone numbers input in the order, none of them received any call from the driver. Also none of them received the delivery notice in their mailbox. One case they received an auto message about failed delivery.

I checked the order history, both orders (having issue) was delivered by Amazon (not Yamato or Sagawa or Japan post). I called and also chat with the customer service but they didn’t offer to deliver again on the same day. I had to reschedule to the next day morning. And one case, re-delivery was late, one hour late than the planned reschedule, my friend could not wait to receive because they had to leave for 2-day-business trip, so they only could receive the gift when they came back. It’s kinda frustrated when it happened.

Is there anyone having similar issue??
