Hello,
Ill be living in Tokyo for 5 months and really would like to hike. Not only day hikes but also multiple day ones.
I would like to know what app/ressources/sites I could use to find/plan those hikes (find the accomodations/intinerary/points of interest). In Europe I used Komoot for example and it’s really good.
I found YAMAP but its all in Japanese so I’m a bit lost.
Cheers

Does alltrails.com have Japanese trails?
Komoot is by far the best I’ve found.
Hi, I’m Japanese and love hiking mountains(though, I’m not a skilled hiker).
I think the below siteis useful for you.

For maps, practically every hiker in Japan use 山と高原地図 (Yama to Kougen Chizu) published by 昭文社 (Shobun-sha). These maps are separated by mountains/regions. However, it seems that they have no English version (still, you can check course time by the map.).

You could also hire a professional guide. Just google Kanto mountain guide and you should see several hits.
Yamap is the most popular in Japan. It will show you local ones in your area or you can search for regions/mountains etc.
They also have free offline maps with gps (2 a month) and you can make your recordings public.
Very useful to check trail conditions for upcoming hikes.
About 1/3 of the app is in English which is enough to use it without Japanese. Or you could use it in your browser with translate.
AllTrails or the other non Japanese ones are not reliable.
This website is a great resource: [https://ridgelineimages.com/](https://ridgelineimages.com/)
Alltrails works in Japan. Yamap is the most common one but maybe a bit hard to understand if you don’t speak Japanese. There’s a great blog by an English lad called ridgelineimages which has tons of hikes and information on them
