We'll be traveling end of July (hot!) to Tokyo and Kyoto. Here's our itinerary for my wife and 2 kids (age 6 and 10). Would love any suggestions and ideas on what we're missing. Will be our first trip to Japan.

Depart for Kyoto mid morning, arrive 1pm
Explore central Kyoto: Teramachi and Shinkyogoku Arcades (for kids).
Gion district at night.

Early morning to Fushimi-Inari-Taisha Shrine. Hike to the top.
River Rafting afternoon excursion

Early morning to Higashiyama District and Kiyomizu-dera Temple (half day)
Afternoon: Toei Kyoto Studio Park (Samori swords for kids).

Day trip to Kibune, explore small villages nearby

Explore Nishiki Market
Half Day trip to Kobe, hike to Nunobiki Waterfall

Check in to Ryokan and spend day eating and resting in their onsens

Check out of Ryokan 11am. Shuttle back to Central Kyoto
Arrive back to Tokyo 5pm.
