Can I wear a Hakama as a non-Japanese Person?

I am a Filipino Senior High School student who's going to graduate by April next year. I've recently been to Japan, but due to time constraints, we have not been able to try the Kimono.

As a graduation gift, my parents already booked a trip to Kansai by April next year.

I've read online that Female Japanese students wear Hakamas, instead of traditional Kimonos on their graduation date. I thought it would be cool to wear a Hakama too and take pictures as a little graduation photo-op.

I'm non-Japanese, so I don't know if this would be appropriate. I've heard that Kimonos are okay, but I'm not sure if there are any nuances or implication of me wearing a Hakama since they are worn on a specific occasion in Japan.
