The climate crisis is here folks, and it only goes downhill from here
My rice inventory is record high. I have about 40kg of rice in my pantry
The gaijin ate all our rice!! 🤪
Saw an article that mentioned the tourist boom was to blame for this… LoL
Bullshit. Just a ploy to hike prices probably because of a surplus in it. Every rice field I’ve passed every year is the same. Reverse marketing. Make consumers believe there is a crisis and watch people panic purchase
Shit just got real
Our local Life supermarket was out of rice for about a week, then some trickle supplies over the days but not enough for everyone.
If you are worried about this for next year, I recommend doing ふるさと納税. Last December we purchased 2 boxes of rice with 3 sacks each, total 6 which we recieved just 3 months ago, and we estimate we’ll be using them until early next year. It will also count towards tax deductions for the next tax year
What is the price of foreign rice vs Japanese?
There was a rice shortage in the early 90s. Nobody could get rice, and so they imported jasmine rice from Thailand. I’m sure people got sick of it, but they still ate it. Meh, not the end of the world.
Nothing more terrifying than seeing the bottom of your rice box and it’s still winter.
Now people will start panic buying
needs a tech overall. workers are aging out.
i f-cking love that they blamed tourists tho lmao
Must be tourists overbuying it due to the low Yen……
It’s so over
Japan stockpiles a shit ton of rice so no big deal
I haven’t been to Japan in over ten years so it is not my fault the rice inventory is low.
Japan’s stupid prime minister forced rice farmers to limit shipments and throw them away😡
The anijin!!!
I mean I ask for a small portion but they act like they don’t understand my japanese…..
As a foreigner in Japan, I feel like I am being served too much rice in general
Time to go and panic buy rice. I’ll have a stockpile of 200kg and not share with anybody! (An ode to the toilet paper and mask shortages of 2020)
