Expatfile asking for “Foreign taxes” paid to Japan for the first time

Hi all, I'm a US taxpayer living in Japan for 10 years now. I've been filing with Turbotax for many years and then switched to Expatfile last year which I found to be even easier and more straightforward. I have never had enough income to actually pay US taxes (always been under the earnings threshold), but naturally I still file every year as I am legally obligated to.

Anyways, onto the reason for this post – I am using Expatfile again this year and I am almost certain that this is the first year I am being asked to input the amount for "foreign taxes" I've paid to Japan. The reason I say this is because I cannot recall ever having done this before, and find myself a bit confused as to what I should be adding up and where I should even be getting this info.

If my earnings are under the threshold of paying US taxes, do I really need to calculate this?

Has something changed here in tax code or is this just a flow change in the UX for Expatfile?

Finally, if I need to actually calculate taxes paid to Japan would this be income tax + residence tax? Is there any easy way to find this or do I need to contact the tax office? Thanks for any insights!
