Something not too pricey. Like €€. I'm up for any kind of quisine. A place that looks cosy without harsh lights. Somewhere you could take a friend after a daytrip before saying goodbye. Cosy warm atmosphere. This kinda style ^^
Eijuan up on the dining floor (9?) of Isetan is really good. Delicious Kyoto style meals based on grilled fish and small side dishes. It’s relatively quiet and small. Excellent view as well. Kind of small portions, though, but still worth a visit.

I haven’t been in Kyoto in 4 years but if it is still there, Katsukura in the 8th or 9th floor of the station is a very nice tonkatsu restaurant.
We had several good meals on the 8th and 9th floors of the station. Just walk around and look at the posted menus on signs. Plenty to choose from!

Had this yakitori place on my list, you may want to call and make a reservation though because the one time I tried to go it was full:

Tsukiji Sushisay – we didn’t get to eat here but the hotel staff indicated it was good and you won’t need a reservation as it’s not an omikase
