Booked a tour to take my mom and family around kyoto. Wanted to ask for any recommendations for small restaurants or less trafficked areas that reflect the local culture/history. Our hotel is near the Imperial Palace and Pokemon Center.
Our guided itinerary includes:
June 21: Gion, Fushimi Inari shrine, Kinkakuji temple, Pure water temple, Ninenzaka.
June 22: Byodo-in temple, Gokasho, Nara Park, TOdaiji temple
Are any of these spots worth avoiding for crowds or are there other spots that might be better? Not sure how long the days will be given the various sites — will we even have time to hit other spots, etc.
Also curious about the samurai/ninja experience advertised online. My 10 year old boy would probably interested. Anyone have a good experience with these?
TIA
