Bars in Kobe, Nagoya, Tokyo/Shinjuku solo

Hiya, so I, 20(m), will be getting off a month-long japanese language university exchange program next week and am planning to do a bit of solo travelling for a week in Kobe, Nagoya and Tokyo (haven’t booked yet but probably Shinjuku) before heading home.

Although I’ll probably be sightseeing/shopping alone during the day, I thought it’d be a good idea to practise japanese as much as I can. From what I’ve heard, bars (and clubs) might be the easiest ways to strike up conversation. So, I wanted some recommendations on bars to meet people of a similar age. Whilst I would prefer to practise my dysfunctional japanese, am also open to meeting foreigners as well, so foreigner friendly bar recommendations would also be greatly appreciated!

For context:

My japanese is probs somewhere within N4 (not passable yet) but ive practised speaking and listening the most so i can hold a conversation in japanese to a decent extent (with google translate/chatgpt in the reserves if backup is required).

I’m pretty introverted so usually find it hard to approach new people, but i do want to venture out my comfort zone (usually slightly easier under the influence though). I am fine talking to new people after overcoming that hurdle though. That being said, can’t say I’ve ever been to a bar/drunk solo before.

I’m Asian from the UK, so i guess i don’t really stick out as a foreigner before i open my mouth, if that changes anything.

I’m still a student, so whilst have some money to spare, budget friendly options would be much preferred.

Any recommendations in those areas and tips would be much appreciated! Also, if anyone’s in the area feel free to hit me up!
