I need insight on the status quo of entry-to-mid level software engineering job in Japan

For the past month I’ve been looking for software engineering job in Japan. Before l explain further here is mu current job status:

– 1 yoe of fulltime job and a couple months of internship experience
– I’m not from Japan and doesn’t have japanese nationality
– I speak really basic japanese ~N4

I’ve done my research on landing a software engineering job in japan, crafting my resume and then sent 15+ job application. A mixed bag of entry/mid level job and a mixed bag of applying through recruiting company/directly applying through each company website. None of the applications is moved to the interview phase and It’s so frustrating cause I never get feedback on why my application didn’t pass through. So here I am asking for insight and advice.

– are japanese companies currently on a hiring freeze?
– is it because my lack of experience?
– is it really difficult to land a job if i’m not japanese
– any additional advice is welcomed

Thanks

  1. • are japanese companies on a horing freeze?

No, there is an extreme lack of engineers so there are plenty of jobs.

    • is it because of my lack of experience?

Probably. Try and level up your Japanese too N4 doesn’t mean a lot.

    • is it really difficult to land a job if i’m not japanese

    In IT? No.

If you are outside of Japan? Yes, it’ll be harder

    • any additional advice is welcomed

    1. Improve your Japanese

    2. Get more work experience, or at least create an impressive portfolio

    3. If you have never been to Japan before, try visiting first. And if possible live here a month or two before deciding. It’s not for everyone.
