I am visiting Tokyo with a friend in June for 9 days. I have been to Japan many times and I don't go to touristic places anymore while my friend has never been to Japan. This trip is a new start for her as she just divorced and she never really travelled with her ex-husband. I want to plan the best trip for her. I kind of forgot the most enjoyable places for a first time visitor, so I wanted to ask for suggestions.
We stay in Shinjuku until day 5, and then in Asakusa. Here's my plan (updated):
Day 1: Shinjuku, evening in Golden Gai
Day 2: Shibuya, Harajuku, Meiji Jingu, Yoyogi
Day 3: Not decided, maybe Kamakura
Day 4: Nakano (because there's my favorite kimono retail shop), Koenji, Kichioji
Day 5&6: Hakone trip
Day 7 (Sunday): Tsukiji, Tsukiji Shishi Matsuri, Oedo Market, Fussa firefly festival in Tachikawa
Day 8: Asakusa, Team Labs
Day 9: Akihabara, Tokyo National Museum
Is there anything I'm missing?
Edit: Thank you all for the amazing recommendations. I know that Nikko is amazing, I loved it there but I picked an overnight stay in Hakone instead. I think that a good onsen experience is unforgettable as well…
