I assume this is allowed – not a plug. As per title – just wondering if anyone can verify the service Japantigers as they ask for 50% up front for deliveries etc. Thank you kindly in advance.

This looks like some bullshit service for foreigners only.
Use a real moving company that is known in Japan and actually a real company.
If you are alone and don’t need to move tons of stuff Akabou is great and extremely cheap.
Sounds like a cheap copy of Asian Tigers
Management consulting, moving, English classes, and event planning. I’m glad that they’re so focused on their core business.
Check out their Google reviews – especially the unhinged replies to any critical comments – and run far, far away.
Oh I bought a second hand fridge from that guy a few months ago.
He wanted me to pay upfront which seemed pretty scammy and I nearly pulled out… but after talking with the guy video call he seemed legit and he delivered the fridge the next day.
They’re not super professional or anything, but they’re not scammers.
Why not use one of the many well reputable Japanese services?
The following is a review I helped my then-girlfriend write in March 2020, which we decided *against* posting at the time (since these guys knew where we lived). However, now that we are living in a different place, I’m sharing it in response to OP’s request for reviews.
>I wanted to share my negative experience with Japan Tigers, who have their own Facebook group and also post their services on many gaijin-oriented Facebook groups. Among other things, the services they advertise include helping people move and disposing of things like furniture. I was living in a sharehouse and decided to move in with my boyfriend, so I needed to move my things. I contacted Japan Tigers, sent them photos of what I wanted to move, and told them the area I wanted to go. I also asked if they could take away my boyfriend’s bed, and we came to an agreement on the time and the fee.
>
>Originally, they were supposed to come at 10am, but I asked them to come at 11 instead. They said okay, but didn’t arrive until almost 1pm! By that time, I had moved all but two of my things downstairs and outside. When they arrived, the main guy complained about having to go upstairs to get the other two items!
>
>Although I told them I wanted to go to Musashi-Koganei, the guy misunderstood and thought I wanted to go to Musashi-Kosugi or Musashi-Koyama. He said it wasn’t what we agreed on and demanded another ¥5,000 on top of the price I’d already agreed to. He was unhappy about having to go so much farther away. I had already told him that I needed to first stop at a storage space near my boyfriend’s place to drop off some of my things, but when I suggested putting those things into the van last, he dismissed me and ordered his two employees to quickly load everything, and in the process they damaged some of my things!
>
>He drove like a maniac the entire time, and many of my things got thrown around inside the van. He talked loudly on the phone and even discussed some negative feedback someone had posted and yelled at one of his employees to delete the post, and even threw his phone at him! I felt so sorry for both of them! No one should be treated like that! When we finally arrived at the storage space, where my boyfriend was waiting, they opened the back door and many of my things fell out onto the ground. They quickly unloaded the van and had to separate everything into a ’here’ pile and a ‘home’ pile so they could reload the stuff I was taking to my boyfriend’s apartment.
>
>Leaving the storage space, he drove like a maniac through the neighbhorhood, where there are a lot of young children and older people. When we arrived at my boyfriend’s place, I was so frustrated that I told them to just unload the van and my boyfriend and I would take everything up ourselves. The two employees went upstairs to take the disassembled bed and the mattress down and then finished unloading the van. When I asked him what he was going to do about my damaged things, he became even more confrontational and started yelling at me. He told his employees to get in the van and they drove off. My boyfriend and I managed to get everything upstairs and inside just as it started to rain.
>
>A few minutes later, he messaged me, accusing me of ‘cheating’ him, and then blocked me on the group.
>
>I realize he probably had other appointments after mine and was trying to make up for lost time, but his aggressive driving and carelessness with my things was completely unprofessional and unacceptable, not to mention the harsh way that he treated his employees. I hope sharing my story will save other people from going through a similar experience.
