hi! to all the locals, first of all thank you for taking the time to read this.
I would like to know if you would have advices for a foreign student coming in exchange?:
I am from France and i will live in osaka for 6 months , i'll arrive in the beginning of 2024 (so in 5weeks), i am currently looking at renting a room in a share house which looks like the easiest option. But on the other hand i feel like maybe those companies know about the fact that their targets will be foreigners and inflate the prices.
Out of all of the sharehouses i kept two (based on looks, time to my uni,and distance to nearest metro)one is in namba and rent is around 120k ¥The other one is on the other side of the yodo gawa (tsukamoto neighbourhood : nishiyodogawa) and is around 70k ¥
The first one is by far my favorite but a little expensive, and since i haven't officialized anything i was wondering if that was a good choice.Cause 60 thousand yen is a solid amount and that i could maybe spend on things that balances the fact that i won't really be in the center of the city, only downside is that i will have to do 20 or 30min of metro to get back home every single time i go to the city center.
BUT,
Please note that i am open to any kind of rooms including regular flats; which i have been looking for, for months already but most of the places come unfurnished or from god knows who coded websites… As for the guesthouse/sharehouse they told me reservations windows would start as early as 1month ahead, so i didn't really have any options but to wait until now.I am also a teenage Parisian which is very used to city life and that like to have everything nearby and open late, but also is already used to metro etc…
My questions would be: could i get a full place in a nice neighborhood for the same price? or is the guest house a good solution? Is 100K Y really a robery or is it decent?
Thank you very much,A gorwn up impatient child waiting to visit japan ♡
