  1. So many people are laughing at this, but it is a 5% increase. So it covers a couple of years of inflation.

    I wish I got a 5% increase on my salary…

  2. An extra 6,400 a month on the average salary/working hours after tax. (Provided those wages are also increased in line with the minimum wage increase)

On minimum you would be looking at 7200 extra a month after tax based on average salary/working hours.

  3. It’s at least the third hike I’ve witnessed as a (part time) convenience store worker.
Would be unthinkable in my own country.

  4. hope i will get that, instead of still getting less than current minimum wage… doubt it though

  5. See everything getting even more expensive because people have much money in their hands after this incredible hike. /s

  6. Raising the minimum wage hurts instead of helping. It’s sad to see Japan doing this. 😢

  7. Wtf, fuck that. I took a salary cut to work with wages “adjusted to Japan” but I could easily get 70% more if I bounced to Singapore.
Japanese companies don’t spend money on their employees, they either pocket it for the leadership, or spend it on b2b projects.

    Fuck that shit
