Trip Planning and Itinerary Check [March 2025] – Solo Female Trip!

Hi everyone,

Apologies for another itinerary post!

I [24F] just bought flights to Japan from the 5th of March20th of March 2025 (14 days). I've previously been to Japan 3 times, the most recent trip in March 2024 with my now-ex. Unfortunately, my ex and I broke up 1 month after we returned, so a lot of the trip is painful for me to think about. Japan was great, but on the trip he just got irritated with me over anything, including silly things like the trains being too crowded or waiting in a queue too long! It was hard to enjoy the trip for myself because I was constantly trying to keep him in a good mood instead.

Anyway, I'm now hoping to ‘reclaim’ my Japan trip and go solo next year. I’m planning a mix of things I’ve previously done, new things, and some ‘self-care’ kind of things. Just things that are good vibes, make me happy, and not feel too lonely! I'm planning on travelling to the following locations:

Osaka: I’m hoping to get some Osaka suggestions as I’m quite unsure of what to do that I haven’t already done! Even if that is staying for fewer days and somewhere else. I’ve been to Universal Studios, Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan and Dotonbori mainly, and want to try other things out!

Hiroshima: I am hoping to get a hotel close to Miyajima Island, so I can wake up early to ferry over. I’m also really keen to go to the Atomic Dome Park and Museum, and explore Hiroshima, as I’ve never been able to go this far south.

Kyoto: I’ve done a lot of things in Kyoto (e.g., Arashiyama, Gion, Fushimi-Inari) and have been 3 times, so I am not sure if I should stay one or two full days here. I do love Kyoto though, so any ideas on how I could spend my time better here would be great!

Hakone & Fujikawaguchiko: I'd love to do 'nature-y' kind of things, relaxation, and some self-care things (outside of onsen!) during this part of the trip (minus the rollercoasters). Once again, any suggestions would be appreciated so much.

Tokyo: I love Tokyo, and want to spend a good amount of time here. I've never been to Tokyo DisneyLand (no one ever wants to go haha), though I have been to DisneySea. I really want to spend time in Tokyo exploring the areas (e.g., Ueno, Kichijoji, Akihabara), shopping, and eating!
