So I finally started to look into investing, and went through the absolute shit show of applying for an SBI Securities account as a foreigner (lots of mailing documents and paper work back & forth…) and finally opened my account.
I use SBI Netbank in my daily life and tried to create a hybrid account to deposit funds into my stock account, but I am getting a "Name / info mismatch" error which made me want to dropkick my computer monitor…
My guess is because I have a middle name thats causing a stink up somewhere, I checked both accounts and the only slight discrepancy is that the メイ on my first name (combined with middle) has a space in account and not in the other, could that be the issue? Has anyone encountered this issue and solved it?
As a side note I did a test transfer to my securities account for 10000 yen which went through fine, worst case I can just manually transfer each month which isnt a big hassle, aside from it not being automated, is there some other benifit I would be missing without a hybrid account? Could there be some issue where I cant transfer funds back out (which I havent tested out, and not sure where to find it…. I hope that works…)
EDIT: Just to put some salt on the wound… is appears in SBI netbank I CANT add a space between my first and middle name for 氏名カナ (but I CAN for 英語氏名 / ローマ字氏名) god this shit is so frustrating… I hope I can just do manual deposits…
