I'm 23M. I studied in English Major, but unfortunately I dropped out because it wasn't for me. Then I decided to study I what love (cooking for specific) in a vocational school. Now I want to continue my study in Japan then get job there.
However, I heard that you have to had an actual college degree to work there long term (I think it called skilled visa or something, sorry English isn't my first language so idk the correct term). First I think I have 2 years to study Japanese, then another 2 years to become a full time chef, but someone told me irl that I won't be able to move up ladder without an actual degree.
I know that you can asked the company you work for to extend your visa, AFAIK, it is only applied for skilled visa (which require a degree).
Another thing, I intend to study and work at the same time. But as I heard, I can only work for 28 hours per week as a student. Is it possible for me pay for tuition fees just from that? For now, I got my family's financial support, but at least I want to take off some of the burden from them.
P/s: This is an actual first time I'm going live abroad (I used to stay in Malaysia but only for a month or two). There's a lot of thing I don't know about yet, so I would be very appreciate if anyone can help.
Edit: I have a cousin who older than me and he probably have a Japanese citizenship cuz he got adopted by a Japanese couple when he was little (that's a story for another time). Will he be able to help me in anyway? I don't want to bother him and his family too much, I just want to know all my options.
