Asking for cheap protein source and recipe for a broke student.

I reside in Tokyo (Ota-ku). I was wondering what ingredients and foods you guys buy that has a good yen-to-protein ratio, and if you have any recipes you'd like to share? I'm open to exploring cuisines I'm not familiar with.

So far, I've observed that eggs are cheap relative to other protein sources like Beef atleast. Silken tofu seems decently priced I think?

How about mackerel and other fish? Chicken breast seems reasonable, but I don't know much recipes for it besides pan frying. I like edamame and natto too.

If you guys did the numbers, I'd appreciate if you shared it with us. (I'll try calculating the yen to protein ratio of various grocery goods next time).

I buy plenty of vegetables, but if you guys also have advice on that, feel free to share it to us 😀
