I feel like there are much better subreddits for the particular things you are interested in. Politics shapes the whole country and the people who live there. It’s more important to some than whatever pop culture is doing.
It’s nowadays tendency on discussion boards to talk about politics only because any hobby is “cringe” or “weeaboo”. So everybody is on a constant race to not be shamed and show how mature and smart they are talking politics.
